Groundbreaking Ceremony for LT Foods Plant in Rotterdam
Global rice specialist to start rice processing in Rotterdam for distribution within Europe
Global rice processing specialist LT Foods will be setting up a plant on the Maasvlakte in Rotterdam in the spring of 2017. The arrival of this reputable Indian company will strengthen Rotterdam’s food cluster and provide the city with 70 to 100 new jobs. On Wednesday 7 December the company celebrated this decision with an informal groundbreaking ceremony on the new location for brown rice processing.
With its global headquarters in Delhi, the Rotterdam plant will be LT Foods’ first European operation. Aditya Arora, Director of LT Foods Europe: “We are setting up this plant in line with our growth strategy. It will strengthen our position in this segment and help us to expand our portfolio as well.”
Strengthening business relations
The arrival of LT Foods will also contribute to the strengthening of business relations between India and the Netherlands, the Rotterdam region in particular. It will also provide opportunities to attract more companies from India to consider the Netherlands to as a base to cover Europe. India’s economy is growing strongly and expected to continue growing in the years to come, with plenty of opportunities for both countries’ business communities. In this respect Rotterdam will focus in particular on key sectors like Agrifood, Life Sciences & Health and Chemicals.
LT Foods’ 12,000 sqm operation in Rotterdam will process brown rice for distribution within Europe. The arrival of LT Foods in Rotterdam is the result of collaboration between Rotterdam Partners, the Port of Rotterdam Authority and the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA).
