American Eagle Lands in the Netherlands
New European distribution center to add 50 jobs in Bergen op Zoom
Pittsburgh-based clothing and accessories retailer, American Eagle, has opened a European distribution center at Business Park Noordland in Bergen op Zoom. The center, which will distribute throughout Western Europe, will create approximately 50 new jobs, growing in the near future to a total of 125 employees.
Bleckmann Fashion and Lifestyle, a Dutch-Belgian logistics company, will manage all aspects of warehouse management, including packing, repackaging, ironing, pricing, labeling, billing and distribution throughout the European market, leaving marketing and sales in the hands of American Eagle.
Following extensive site selection research, the company selected Bergen op Zoom. Mike Forsyth, Global Logistics Manager at American Eagle, said: “In addition to logistics, a favorable cost structure, a good talent pool and the already present distribution center, speedy set-up of the operations played an important role in our decision making process.”
Not the first American fashion brand to land in the Netherlands, American Eagle joins Majestics, Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister and Forever 21 in West Brabant.
