Chargebee Opens European Headquarters in the Netherlands
Global leader in SaaS subscription management, Chargebee picks the Netherlands to support sales and operations as it seeks to grow across Europe
With the rise of cloud computing, software-as-a-service (SaaS) has become a disruptive trillion-dollar industry. An ever-increasing number of companies – both large and small – are switching over to a subscription-based service since it makes the traditional one-off heavy investment into software obsolete. However, these subscription services do still need to be operationalized – and that is the very SaaS service that Chargebee offers.
Plug and play solutions for leading payment gateways
Chargebee is a recurring billing and subscription management tool that helps SaaS and SaaS-like businesses streamline Revenue Operations. Chargebee integrates with the leading payment gateways like Stripe, Braintree, PayPal and more, around the world to let customers automate recurring payment collection along with invoicing, taxes, accounting, email notifications, SaaS Metrics and customer management.
The Netherlands as an ideal location to serve Chargebee’s EU customer base
As Europe’s most wired country, the Netherlands is one the best countries for tech companies. Businesses that invest in the Netherlands’ technology and IT sector thrive, thanks to the tech-savvy, multilingual Dutch workforce, the great digital infrastructure, an innovative and open culture, R&D incentives and the strong focus of the Dutch government on developments in tech. As consumers, the Dutch are digital frontrunners who lead the way in embracing new digital applications.
Krish Subramanian, cofounder and CEO on the new location of Chargebee in the Netherlands: “Europe represents the fastest growing proportion of our business. With its central location and highly-educated, multilingual workforce, Amsterdam is the ideal location to serve and support our European customer base and prospects.”
Creating 75 new roles
Chargebee was founded in 2011 in Chennai, India. With a second office in the US, it is currently used by 1,700 companies in more than 50 countries using more than 120 currencies. The company has attracted major investors, with the most recent being a €15 million Series C financing led by Insight Venture Partners. With the opening of the Chargebee European headquarters in the Netherlands, the company expects to create 75 positions within marketing, sales, and support during the next few years.
The company is already EU-GDPR, PCI-DSS, SOC-I and SOC-II compliant, and hence well-positioned to meet the regulatory needs of European clients. Since the service is also easily adaptable to other regional regulations, Chargebee may also be attractive to clients seeking to scale outside of Europe.
Choosing the Netherlands
For companies big and small, establishing headquarters in the Netherlands is the ideal choice. The Netherlands is strategically located at Europe’s front door, with 95% of Europe’s most lucrative markets just 24 hours away from Amsterdam or Rotterdam. It also offers a business-friendly regulatory environment, multilingual workforce and top infrastructure, which contribute to pan-European success.
