Opening the new office and laboratory in Europe is another step in the journey to achieve turnover targets for 2020
Dr. Viju Jacob, Managing Director of the Synthite Group, cuts the ribbon at the inauguration of Synthite’s European office.
Synthite Industries Limited is the world’s largest supplier of spice oils and oleoresin. On Friday 23 June the company inaugurated its European office-cum-laboratory at Wageningen University campus in the Netherlands. Dr. Viju Jacob, Managing Director of the Synthite Group said: “This day is important for both India and the Netherlands. The Indio–Dutch business relation dates back to the early fifteenth century when Dutch ships entered the Indian waters carrying traders for the Indian spices. Today, Synthite, an Indian company, set up its office on Dutch soil to supply its value added spice ingredients.”
Way back in 1972, Dr. Jacob’s father, Mr. C.V. Jacob, started manufacturing spice oleoresin on a small scale. Gradually the company has been growing from strength to strength. Today the world’s major food companies like Pepsico, Nestlé and Unilever are on the top of its customer list.
Closer to European customers
Dr. Viju Jacob added: “Our target is to achieve a turnover of Rs 3000 crores (30 billion) by 2020. Keeping this in mind, we have recently established processing plants in Rajasthan and Vietnam. Opening the new office and laboratory in Europe is another step in this journey. We have many important customers located in Europe. It has been a necessity for us to come closer to the European companies so that we can serve them better. Our European office will be staffed by employees from the Netherlands and we are sure, Synthite will soon increase its customer base as well as sales volumes on the European continent”.
Synthite today is a diversified company with footprints in Hospitality, Realty, Windmills, Flavors, Savory, and Ground Spices besides the traditional business of oleoresin. Synthite is also present in the Indian retail market with Kitchen Treasure brand spice blends.
The product list of Synthite includes spice oils ad oleoresin, ground spices, spice blends, natural colors, liquid seasonings, floral extracts, phytochemicals, antioxidants, tea & coffee extracts and nutraceuticals. It employs over 1,800 people from across the world. Synthite commands over 30% share of the global spice oleoresin market.
