New Rotterdam Base for Chinese Firm LGMG

Onwards and upwards for Chinese firm LGMG with new European facility in Rotterdam

LGMG

The Chinese aerial platform manufacturer Lingong Group Jinan Heavy Machinery (LGMG) recently inaugurated its new 1500 m2 warehouse and office in Rotterdam. The company’s first European facility will hold a stock of between 80 and 100 scissor lifts as well as 200,000 euros-worth of parts for servicing LGMG’s dealers and customers in Europe.

Scissors and booms

Established in 1972 as a general construction equipment manufacturer, LGMG only began manufacturing aerial work platforms in 2015. Its product line currently includes scissor lifts ranging from 12- to 46ft, and boom lifts from 39- to 78ft. The company’s initial focus will be on the sale of its scissor lifts in Europe but aims to start bringing its boom lifts – currently only sold in China – to the European market in 2019.

Global reach

The opening of the Rotterdam facility marks a pivotal phase in LGMG’s aggressive global expansion plan. The company also has the goal of opening a facility in the US in the first half of 2019, as well as expanding its product range to include articulated and telescopic booms to add to its scissors, with the first articulated models scheduled to be launched in Europe during Bauma 2019.

Ambitious goals

Chairman of LGMG Group, Yu Mengsheng, asserts that Chinese OEMs are becoming more accepted in global markets; ‘I want our partners to have confidence in our operation in Europe. We are not a small company – we will have RMB30 billion revenues this year – and we want to be one of the biggest in the market.’

Top location

Export manager, Ares Song, commented: ‘We are very happy with our new location. The transport links are excellent, and the support from local partners has also been very helpful. Our aim is to have our European and Chinese teams working closely together to reach our goals, and then we will look at other markets.’ The European operation will be managed by Kevin Liu, Director of LGMG Europe, working alongside ten other staff, with more local service- and administration staff to be recruited.
