NuStar Achieves Authorized Economic Operator Status
Company Is First Oil Facility Certified in Port of Amsterdam
NuStar Energy, an independent liquids terminal operator, recently achieved Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status and recognized as the first oil facility in the Port of Amsterdam to achieve certification within this EU security initiative.
As part of the Custom Security Program established by the European Commission, the AEO certification process helps monitor the flow of goods in international supply chains through risk management and customs compliance. Certification is comparable to the standards and procedures required for participation in the U.S. Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program. Companies granted AEO status have proven to be reliable and in good standing with the customs authorities throughout the European Community, resulting in less physical and administrative controls.
Based in San Antonio, Texas, NuStar has operations in the United States, the Netherlands Antilles, Canada, Mexico, and the United Kingdom that include crude oil and refined product pipelines, refined product terminals, and petroleum specialty liquids, and crude oil storage facilities. NuStar completed a major expansion of its Amsterdam terminal in 2008 that nearly quadrupled petroleum storage capacity and expanded barge and ship access with new docks.
