SoftLayer Technologies Opens European HQ and Data Center in Amsterdam
Company Praises Amsterdam’s “Perfect Environment”
SoftLayer Technologies (Dallas, TX), a provider of on-demand data center and hosting services, will open its new European headquarters and first European data center in Amsterdam.
The company is investing $75 million in its Dutch and European operations, which will also include new network points in Amsterdam, London and Frankfurt. The company has also joined the Amsterdam Internet Exchange.
SoftLayer appointed Jonathan Wisler as General Manager for European Operations. He praised Amsterdam’s advanced Internet infrastructure and networking capabilities.
“We’re seeing a thriving community of both established digital entrepreneurs and start-ups (in the Netherlands),” Wisler said. “There is a terrific buzz, particularly in Amsterdam, amongst digital professionals. It’s exciting, vibrant and it’s lively—the perfect environment from which to launch our European operations.”
The new data center has the capacity for more than 15,000 servers. The company is hiring 25 new employees to support the center’s operations.
