Headquartered in Minneapolis, MN, Midwest Rubber Service & Supply Co. manufactures, fabricates, and distributes high quality rubber products. A family-owned, private company, it has served commercial and industrial customers since 1976.
“Our new facility in the Utrecht complements those in Minneapolis and Shanghai,” said Brent Anderson, General Manager of Midwest Rubber Europe and son of the company’s cofounder, Chuck. “It represents the latest step in progressing toward our strategic goal to service customers around the globe. We’ve invested in manufacturing here to reinforce our position as a viable supplier for European customers and to contribute to our global growth.”
In selecting a European location, Anderson conducted wide ranging research that included fact finding trips to countries such as Germany, Italy, and Poland. “We narrowed our selection by visiting locations, talking to officials, and looking at real estate,” said Anderson. “The Netherlands stood out for a variety of reasons, including its position as a European gateway, logistical considerations, corporate and personal tax structures, and nearness to our main customers.”
Anderson also noted that the fact that a vast majority of the Dutch population exhibits excellent proficiency in a variety of languages, including English, helped to tip the decision to the Netherlands. “For example, my wife and I have quickly become comfortable fitting in here,” he said. “Without a doubt, if I had to go through the decision process again, I would make the same choice.”
“The NFIA’s U.S. contact in Chicago walked us through the process of licensing, real estate, tax matters, and personnel,” he added. “We became comfortable and familiar with the multiple aspects of foreign investment. With this kind of help, we found it easy to make the transition to set up the company here.”
