Yusen Logistics Benelux Expands in the Netherlands
Global Japan-based logistics company opens new flagship facility at inland seaport of Moerdijk
Yusen Logistics Benelux has opened a new state-of-the-art logistics center in Moerdijk, the Netherlands. The new flagship facility will also be designated as Yusen Logistics Benelux’s new headquarters and replaces the current headquarters in Ridderkerk.
Gateway to Europe
Yusen has chosen Moerdijk because of its central location with efficient access to sea, air and road transport. Moerdijk is the fourth and furthest inland-located seaport in The Netherlands. It is situated in the center of two of the most important European sea ports, Rotterdam and Antwerp, and the airports of Amsterdam and Brussels. The Dutch logistics hub offers excellent connections with the deep-sea ports as well as extensive forwarding options to European inland destinations.
Bruno Jacques, Managing Director of Yusen Logistics Benelux & Nordics, said the new center enables Yusen “to provide both our local and international customers with the opportunity to also use our customs and freight forwarding services next to our extensive warehousing and road services”.
Sustainable
The newly built multi-customer warehouse offers a storage capacity of 30,000 m², accessible via 30 loading docks, along with 900 m² of office facilities. In line with Yusen Logistics’ Environmental Green Policy and culture of Kaizen, the facility has been built to the highest standards in terms of sustainability, efficiency and safety. With the use of high-tech heating and lighting systems, the building runs almost energy-neutral. The safety level of the bonded warehouse is in accordance with the Transported Asset Protection Association B (TAPA-B) requirements.
Growth potential in Benelux
Jacques said: ‘The opening of this new warehouse in Moerdijk underlines our strong commitment to provide outstanding logistics services to our customers. In the short term, Yusen Logistics Benelux will move into their new headquarters and welcome their launching customer at the Moerdijk site.
