OVHcloud Expands European Footprint with New Amsterdam Office

The French cloud provider boosts Dutch tech infrastructure to support business growth and digital sovereignty in Europe

France-based OVHcloud, a leading cloud provider, has opened its new office in Amsterdam, marking a significant milestone in the company’s continued expansion across Europe. The establishment of the Dutch office comes closely following the launch of OVHcloud’s first Dutch ‘Local Zone,’ reinforcing OVHcloud’s long-term commitment to supporting a sovereign, secure and innovative cloud landscape in the Netherlands and beyond.

With its world-leading innovation, the Dutch IT & tech ecosystem is a natural next step for OVHcloud’s expansion strategy. “We see the Netherlands as a vibrant market with strong cloud adoption, an appetite for innovation and digital maturity. This makes it a market with clear potential for growth,” said Guido Laout, Sales Director Northern Europe Cluster, who spearheaded the development of the new office.

From Local Zone to local presence in the Netherlands

As a leader in cloud infrastructure, OVHcloud designs, builds and operates its own data centers, racks, servers and water cooling systems – an innovative model that allows the company to maintain control across performance, energy efficiency, security and supply chain. This comprehensive approach, paired with strict European governance, ensures that customers retain control over their data and avoid exposure to non-European jurisdictions.

In May 2024, OVHcloud introduced its first Public Local Zone in Amsterdam, delivering low-latency cloud computing resources to Dutch companies directly from the Netherlands. Local Zones are small cloud deployments that support new applications which need to provide faster, real-time responses to users, from e-commerce to cloud gaming. The overwhelmingly positive response to these Local Zones validated OVHcloud’s belief that there is strong demand for its services in the Dutch market.

Unlocking direct access to the thriving Dutch tech ecosystem

Powered by its strategic location, advanced internet infrastructure and reputation as a digital gateway, the Netherlands hosts a dynamic community of innovators, researchers, renowned universities and global technology companies. OVHcloud’s decision to open its Amsterdam office positions it to leverage this strong ecosystem and gain closer access to customers, partners, associations and skilled tech talent.

For OVHcloud, that proximity is already paying dividends. The company recently joined the Dutch Cloud Community, unlocking immediate and direct access to the Netherlands’ vast network of cloud service providers and software innovators. Put together, the mature Dutch tech ecosystem offers OVHcloud a stable foundation for growth as it looks to scale both commercial and operational capabilities, build its brand and expand its local customer base.

Dutch support facilitates the business expansion journey

OVHcloud’s expansion in the Netherlands was supported by the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency. NFIA’s office in France, led by Director Willemijn Berenschot, provided insights to the company as well as opportunities to participate in initiatives linked to the France–Netherlands economic year. For OVHcloud, the connections facilitated by NFIA proved an important catalyst during the company’s exploration of the Dutch market.

With its new Amsterdam office now operational, OVHcloud is poised to play a meaningful role in advancing the Netherlands’ tech industry and cloud sovereignty goals. As demand grows for trusted cloud services in Europe, the company’s presence will contribute to greater resilience, innovation and data storing options throughout the Netherlands.
