American UPS Expands Smart Logistics Capabilities with New Logistics Center near Schiphol Airport
New 12,000 m² logistics center strengthens the Netherlands’ role as a leading hub for advanced, integrated supply chain solutions
The Netherlands continues to strengthen its position as a leading hub for advanced logistics, as UPS opens a state-of-the-art logistics center in Hoofddorp, strategically located near Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. The new 12,000 m² facility marks a significant investment in integrated, end-to-end supply chain solutions, reinforcing the country’s role as a gateway for global trade and a platform for business growth.
As supply chains become more interconnected and dynamic, companies across sectors require logistics partners that can deliver more than transportation. By combining multiple capabilities under one roof, including freight forwarding, cross-docking, air freight, and customs brokerage, the facility allows businesses to better manage increasingly complex international supply chains with greater visibility, resilience, and control.
Supporting specialized and high-value industries
The new gateway is designed to support a wide range of specialized logistics needs, including temperature-sensitive, high-value, and regulated goods. In particular, the site plays a key role in strengthening UPS’s global cold chain network. With dedicated temperature-controlled storage zones and advanced monitoring systems the facility supports the life sciences & health industry, which relies on strict temperature management and product integrity throughout the supply chain.
“This site is a strong example of how UPS is building an integrated global network for customers with complex supply chains,” said Susanne Klingler-Werner, President of UPS Supply Chain Solutions EMEA. “For healthcare customers, its compliant cold chain infrastructure helps protect product integrity. For high-tech, automotive and industrial customers, its advanced freight, air cargo and cross-dock capabilities help simplify complex logistics flows and connect more efficiently to European and global markets.”
Strengthening the Netherlands’ advanced logistics ecosystem
The Netherlands’ strong infrastructure, strategic location, and highly developed logistics ecosystem make it an ideal location for such advanced operations. UPS’s investment highlights the country’s continued attractiveness for companies seeking to optimize their European and global supply chains.
“Amsterdam is a natural choice for UPS’s new cross-dock facility. The Netherlands offers a unique combination of world-class logistics infrastructure, excellent international connectivity and a strong ecosystem for high-value, time-critical and specialized logistics, including healthcare,” said Hilde Van Der Meer, Commissioner at the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA). “Investments like this strengthen Europe’s supply chains while further reinforcing the Netherlands’ position as a leading hub for advanced logistics.”
A platform for growth
As global trade continues to evolve, the ability to manage complexity through smart, integrated logistics solutions is becoming a key differentiator for businesses. UPS’s new Amsterdam gateway underscores how the Netherlands enables companies to transform supply chain challenges into opportunities for growth.
