Snag tights opens in the netherlands to ensure Brexit continuity

British size inclusive retailer Snag Tights have announced the launch of a new distribution centre in Venlo, the Netherlands. Snag Tights is an online-only retailer based in Livingston, Scotland, offering tights that fit every-size and every-shape. The new site in Venlo enable the Scottish brand to triple their distribution capacity as they look to meet growing consumer demand. The new premises were secured with the support of Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) and will ensure the brand can continue to fulfil international orders without disruption post-Brexit.

Ensuring delivery to customers globally post-Brexit

The award-winning retailer, who achieved 3733% growth in their first three years of trade, have expanded their distribution facilities to meet growing international demand. The move will also ensure they are able to continue to serve customers globally post-Brexit, with Snag Tights already fulfilling more than 500,000 orders from 50 regions outside the UK each year.

Located in the Limburg region, the 20,000 square foot premises in Venlo are double the size of the hosiery brand’s existing headquarters in Livingston, Scotland and are due to open on 1 December 2020. The new premises were secured with the support of the NFIA and the Limburg Development and Investment Company (LIOF). Both organizations helped Snag Tights with rolling out and expanding their international activities in the Netherlands. Despite the pandemic, the NFIA and LIOF were able to arrange a COVID-secure fact-finding trip for Snag Tights spanning Limburg, Brabant and East Netherlands.

Setting up in the Netherlands: “just in awe of how straightforward it was”

Brie Read, CEO and Founder of Snag commented: “More than half our orders for Snags come from outside the UK, with the majority of these from within the EU. Our business has grown and thrived thanks to the support of customers from around the world – so with the uncertainty surrounding Brexit we just knew we had to find a solution in order to continue to deliver our products to Snaggler’s everywhere.

When it came to finding premises and setting up the distribution centre in the Netherlands, we were just in awe of how straightforward it was. The level of support and knowledge provided by the Dutch government through NFIA is outstanding. We’ve already got a wonderful Snag team set up in Venlo and we can’t wait to open our doors on 1 December!”

“The Netherlands offers certainty and stability in challenging economic times”

Jeroen Nijland, Commissioner of the NFIA, welcomed Snag Tights to the Netherlands: “I am delighted that Snag Tights has chosen to set up its operations in the Netherlands and house its fulfilment facility here. In these challenging economic times, specifically in light of Brexit, our country offers the certainty and stability on the European Market that is needed for international operating businesses. We connect companies both to the UK and the EU via our excellent infrastructure and fast digital connections. With the end of the transition period coming closer every day, we welcome companies looking for an alternative and stable location as their new business base.”
