7.5m Funding Enables Turkish Agtech Innovator Doktar to Scale Model from the Netherlands
Doktar’s expansion comes after the agtech company successfully joined the growing Foodvalley Ecosystem in Wageningen
In a move that underscores the Netherlands’ growing reputation as a global hub for agricultural innovation, Turkish agtech company Doktar, announces it has successfully received €7.5 million funding co-led by the European Circular Bioeconomy Fund (ECBF) and Pymwymic, a Dutch impact investor. The capital will support the expansion of Doktar’s integrated product portfolio and enable the company to scale its model globally.
The company aims to collaborate with local research institutions at the Wageningen University & Research, and world-leading companies in the Foodvalley to accelerate the transition to climate-smart agriculture to support this expansion of their business.
Founded in 2012, Doktar develops software and hardware products for precision agriculture by using technology trained with AI. With this, Doktar can monitor and analyse earthly parameters, such as crop growth, irrigation capacity and pest detection, and advise farmers and institutions to make informed decisions on how to optimise their field by reducing the inputs. Doktar’s technology also drives sustainability by enabling water saving, soil regeneration biodiversity enrichment and carbon sequestration.
Funding follows successful expansion to the Netherlands
The funding follows Doktar’s choice to expand to Wageningen in 2023. Doktar taps into the knowledge available locally, and the potential to collaborate with the many food companies that are active within Foodvalley.
When establishing operations in Wageningen, Doktar joined this thriving ecosystem. In doing so, the company, known for its cutting-edge use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data analytics to drive sustainable farming, joined the Netherlands’ dynamic agtech cluster.
Collaborating for sustainable food solutions
By joining the Food Valley ecosystem, Doktar aligned itself with a network of over 1,500 companies and institutions focused on sustainable food and agriculture. The region is home to Wageningen University & Research, one of the world’s leading agricultural research centres, and offers unparalleled access to talent, research infrastructure, and collaborative opportunities.
The Netherlands, already a global leader in agrifood innovation, continues to attract forward-thinking companies like Doktar that are addressing some of the most pressing challenges in food security, climate resilience and resource efficiency. The country’s forward-thinking agrifood ecosystem, strong digital infrastructure, and commitment to sustainability make it an ideal base for Agtech innovation.
With its arrival in Wageningen, Doktar not only strengthens the Netherlands’ position as a leader in precision agriculture but also brings new momentum to the global movement toward smarter, greener farming.
