MEAN WELL Europe Advances Sustainable, Technology Driven Headquarters in the Netherlands

MEAN WELL, the leading global manufacturer of switching power supplies has announced plans to establish a new, sustainability‑focused European headquarters in Hoofddorp

MEAN WELL Office building

At the end of December 2025, the Taiwanese company officially received its land plot from SADC N.V. (the Schiphol Area Development Company), paving the way for construction to begin in 2026 at De President business park in Hoofddorp, Haarlemmermeer. The municipality of Haarlemmermeer is located near Schiphol Airport, providing excellent connections within Europe and beyond.

MEAN WELL’s European HQ will be part of a thriving tech ecosystem with a strong pool of talent and likeminded businesses that are keen to collaborate, with green energy innovation and sustainability as a common mission. The name ‘MEAN WELL’ encapsulates the company’s ethos of conducting business with “good intentions” and the belief in being a “reliable partner”, dedicated to long-term collaborative relationships with customers, suppliers, contractors and employees. This chimes with the Netherlands’ collaborative business culture and focus on building a sustainable and prosperous future for all.

A sustainable, human‑centric building

The development marks a significant step in MEAN WELL Europe’s long‑term strategy to strengthen its presence in the region and enhance support for customers across Europe. Construction is scheduled to start in Q2 2026, with completion planned for May 2027. Designed by Hoogeveen architecten and built by Aan de Stegge Twello, the headquarters will cover 8,247 m², supported by a 1,095 m² parking deck. The design places innovation, sustainability and employee wellbeing at its core. “MEAN WELL Europe is committed to creating a sustainable, technology-driven headquarters that delivers first-class support to customers across Europe,” said Coleman Liu, Director of MEAN WELL Europe.

The building will be circular in its design, reflecting MEAN WELL’s emphasis on long-term sustainability and connectivity. “The circular design reflects our philosophy of energy and connectivity, while providing a bright, healthy, and inspiring workplace for our team,” added Snow Lee, HR & Project Manager. Architects Koen and Arjen Hoogeveen describe the visual identity of the project as an architectural embodiment of MEAN WELL’s character: “We’ve translated the essence of MEAN WELL into architecture. A building whose DNA is shaped by energy, movement, and connectivity.”

A living showcase of MEAN WELL technology

The new headquarters will serve not only as an office space but also as a real‑time demonstration of MEAN WELL’s own power solutions. The building will integrate:

  • LED lighting
  • Building management systems
  • Solar energy solutions

Together, these features illustrate the company’s commitment to sustainability and demonstrate how its products support modern, energy‑efficient infrastructure. Commenting on the announcement, Mayor Ms. Marianne Schuurmans-Wijdeven expressed strong support, stating, “We are honored that MEAN WELL has chosen Haarlemmermeer as the location for its European headquarters. This investment not only aligns with our commitment to sustainable development, but also symbolizes a closer partnership between the city and leading international enterprises.”
