Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) Names Hilde van der Meer as New Commissioner
Hilde van der Meer will start as NFIA Commissioner on 1 July 2021
The Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency today announced the appointment of Hilde van der Meer as Commissioner of the NFIA, which is part of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, an operational unit of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy. Hilde van der Meer will begin in her new role on 1 July 2021.
Hilde van der Meer, MA, began her career at the Schiphol Area Development Company where she became Director of Marketing & Sales. In 2007, Van der Meer moved to the city of Amsterdam where she worked as Managing Director for amsterdam inbusiness (aib), the investment promotion agency for the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area, and as Deputy Director of Economic Affairs for the City of Amsterdam. Van der Meer studied Japanese language and culture at Leiden University.

Van der Meer said: “With my broad economic experience in and around Amsterdam, I am looking forward to working as Commissioner on challenges that the NFIA considers daily. Foreign companies are important partners in further integrating both sustainability and digitalization in our society, and in exploring opportunities that new technologies bring for welfare and wellbeing. We need foreign companies and their investments to meet these challenges. Together with the powerful and experienced team at the NFIA and the Invest in Holland network, I aim to contribute to the growth of our ecosystems that can help us solve these global challenges.”
