Specific Diagnostics Opens European Warehouse and Servicing Center in Amsterdam
The medical diagnostics company partners with Crane Worldwide Logistics to ensure service across European market
San Jose-based Specific Diagnostics, a global medical device company specializing in RAPID antibiotic susceptibility, is opening a warehouse and servicing center in Amsterdam to support its growing operations in Europe. Specific and its European subsidiary Specific Diagnostics Europe, Ltd., join a leading-edge life sciences & health ecosystem in the Netherlands. Partnering with US-based Crane Worldwide Logistics, which also recently expanded in Amsterdam, Specific will warehouse its instruments and products and serve as a regional service depot for repairs and part inventory.
Specific’s new Dutch warehouse enables the company to deliver its Reveal Rapid AST system across the European market: “As the demand for Reveal Rapid AST in Europe is quickly growing, our goal is to ensure white glove service and support to each and every customer,” noted Scott O’Brien, CCO of Specific.
Dutch life sciences & health ecosystem accelerates innovation to prevent antimicrobial resistance
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR), the ability of bacteria to resist the effects of an antibiotic, is one of the biggest public health challenges in the world. Specific Diagnostics’ technology enables rapid de-escalation of antibiotic therapy, which can help prevent AMR. The company’s expertise in this field fits well with the Netherlands, Europe’s connected Life Sciences & Health metropolis and a frontrunner in AMR policy, knowledge, collaboration and innovation. Featuring institutions like the Netherlands Center for One Health and the Netherlands Antibiotic Development Platform, the country is one of Europe’s top three networks in terms of knowledge in the field of AMR.
Strengthening global supply chain solutions through the Netherlands
Specific Diagnostics is one of many global companies to set up supply chain operations in the Netherlands. Its partner, Crane Worldwide Logistics, created a state-of-the-art facility near Amsterdam Shiphol Airport to support clients with storage and logistics needs. The two companies’ expansions in the Netherlands place them in the heart of logistics in Europe, providing access to the entire continent within a 24-hour reach via land, sea and air. The Dutch logistics network, home to Europe’s busiest port, guarantees reliable and convenient supply chain operations for companies from around the globe.
“Specific is an admirable, growing diagnostics company who helps patients all over the world. Crane Worldwide is delighted to partner with Specific to provide integrated logistics solutions in our new Amsterdam facility servicing European operations,” said Jason Stretton, Regional Vice President Europe at Crane Worldwide Logistics. “Supply chain management, in these turbulent times, is a critical component of a successful global business and we are excited to be a part of Specific’s growth in Europe.”
