Content Guru

Learning, innovating and loving life in The Hague

Content Guru (part of the Redwood Technologies Group) is Europe’s largest provider of omni-channel cloud contact centre services. Their storm® platform delivers highly-scalable, mission-critical solutions to hundreds of the world’s biggest organisations, including Fleurop Interflora, Sodexo and the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), the fifth-largest employer globally. From their head office in Bracknell, UK (and further regional offices in Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Singapore and the United States of America), Content Guru serves clients in over 60 countries.

A long-standing partnership

Content Guru opened its first mainland European office in The Hague in 2013. “It was a logical first step into Europe,” explains Michael van den Brink, Content Guru’s CEO in the Netherlands. “As part of the Redwood Technologies Group, we’ve had a long-standing relationship with KPN (the leading Dutch telecoms and IT service provider), dating back to the mid-nineties. When we signed an agreement in 2012 to deliver storm® solutions across the Benelux region, we wanted to cement and expand that partnership.”

A perfect test market

The Dutch office has since enjoyed significant growth, particularly in the last two years, as an increasing number of companies have become convinced by the possibilities of cloud services. Much of Content Guru BV’s success has been driven by the Dutch propensity to innovate and their willingness to invest in new technology. “If you want to learn about and test new ideas, the Netherlands is a good place to be,” says Michael.

“Dutch people are keen to try anything new. For example, they were one of the first countries to use WhatsApp for customer service.  This forward-looking attitude is vital for our business. We can test new features and conclude that if it works in the Netherlands, then it will probably work in the rest of the world too.”

Everything is so close

The location of The Hague, a major business hub in the country , also appealed to Content Guru. The  storm® platform is housed in data centres in Rotterdam and Amsterdam. With both situated only 40-minutes’ travel time from The Hague, it is very easy for the engineers who make regular site visits.

Our visitors love coming here

“We have lots of international clients visiting us”, says Michael, “and they always love coming here. Many of our clients really enjoy the relaxed, cosmopolitan atmosphere of the bars and squares.”

The fact that both Rotterdam and Schiphol airports are only 30 minutes’ travel away also made The Hague an ideal location. From that first step into the Netherlands in 2013, Content Guru has expanded its European presence to countries such as Germany, Italy and, most recently, Sweden.

We can always knock on the doors of the NFIA and The Hague Business Agency

“The NFIA and The Hague Business Agency supported us in all kinds of ways,” continues Michael. “They helped us find new premises and, whenever we have a question about regulation or potential opportunities, we are always welcome to knock on their door. If you are a foreign company setting up in the Netherlands, you really don’t need to do all the research yourself. I would always advise asking the NFIA first. Even for small things, such as setting up a bank account or getting an introduction to the Chamber of Commerce, you can just ask them. It saves a lot of time and means you can set up meetings and start doing business very quickly.”
